Santa Fe Heart

This is a close-up of the Santa Fe Heart included in my first post.

This heart was inspired by many aspects of New Mexico – the mountains, the turquoise, and the sun symbol of the Zia Pueblo Indians.

Each mountain is a different cross stitch – double straight cross, checkerboard cross, double stitch, etc. My many thanks to Carolyn Hedge Baird for her stitch suggestions that made this heart so much fun to stitch.

I had fun buying the beads for the turquoise/coral trim in Santa Fe, and enjoyed stitching a double-woven stitch around the edge with Baroque Silk Campfire.
